About the event

Southwark historian Stephen Bourne will give an engaging and informative overview of his work as a historian of Black Britain. His best known book is Black Poppies, which focuses on the Black servicemen of World War One. Other titles include Aunt Esther's Story (1991), the story of his adopted aunt, a Black Londoner born in 1912; Under Fire - Black Britain in Wartime 1939-45 (2020) and Deep Are the Roots - Trailblazers Who Changed Black British Theatre (2021). More information about Stephen and his books is available at www.stephenbourne.co.uk
